The Makeup Bag: Splurge Edition

Hello there, lovelies! Today's post is all about makeup! I thought I'd bring you examples of products I've splurged on, haven't regretted, and loved! I'm only going to share products I've used and trust. Some of these I even trusted enough in to use on my wedding day! If you feel inclined to try one of these products out but don't want to spend so much, check out if they come in travel sizes! It's a great way to try something out without feeling too much regret after if you end up not liking it! For the products I love just the same but are more affordable, stay tuned to next week! Solo voy a compartir productos que he usado y en cuales confío. ¡Algunos de estos hasta los use para el día de mi boda! Si te interesa probar alguno de estos productos pero no quieres gastar tanto dinero, ¡intenta verificar si viene en tamaños de viaje! ¡Eso es una manera excelente para probar algo sin tener que luego arrepentirte tanto si no te termina gustando! Para productos que amo igual pero que son mas accesibles, ¡pendientes para la próxima semana! ¿Qué producto de maquillaje decidiste gastar un poco más en y terminaste amando? ¡Me encantaría añadir a mi lista de deseo!
Top: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Hydrating ($36) & Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer ($17-$37)- both as seen and explained in The Five Minute Face; Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector ($34)- I love throwing this on when I have a little more time in the morning. It's so easy to apply, gives a natural finish, and has SPF20! I used it for The Blues.
Middle: Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation ($43)- This gives such a flawless finish! I used it on my wedding day and it photographed beautifully! Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation ($36)- For those of you whole love a natural but full coverage look, this is perfect! Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pressed Powder ($30)- Great for oily skin!
Bottom: Bésame Cosmetics Brightening Setting Face Powder ($22)- I love using this under my eyes to brighten! Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder ($20-$35)- Used this in combination with their Ultra HD Foundation on my wedding day and it was perfection!
Concealers: Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo Concealer ($26), NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($29), Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid ($28), and Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer ($27)
Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz ($21)- I've tried drugstore dupes for this but none can come close to how amazing this works!, Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel ($24)- I'm loving the new packaging!
Top: Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer in Chocolate ($30)- This bronzer actually smells like chocolate! Urban Decay Naked Flushed in Naked ($32)- I specifically love the bronzer in this palette! The highlighter is too glittery for me. The blush is nice but not one of my favorites. I wish they sold the bronzer in separate packaging!
Middle: Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Highlighter ($38)- This highlighter is amazing! It is worth all the hype! If you just decide to buy one of these items, this is definitely the one I recommend! Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush ($28)- These claim to last 12 hours and I'm sure they do! I love the variety of colors and they are so pigmented! My favorites are Tipsy and Exposed. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush ($38)- These are so beautiful! Everything from the packaging to the color and the shine they give you is perfection!
Bottom: Benefit Cosmetics Cheekathon Blush & Bronzer Palette ($58)- This is great for anyone who is just starting out with makeup and would love a lot of face products in the same palette. Clinique Cheek Pop ($22)- I love the bright pop of purple this blush gives!
As far as eyeshadows go, I don't own that many because I only use them on those rare special occasions. For those moments, I tend to grab either the Urban Decay Naked ($54), Naked 3 ($54),or the Naked Basics ($29) palette.
Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner ($19) is by far my favorite eyeliner of all time! It's tip is like a slim brush which makes perfecting the cat eye easier! Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($22) comes in a close second. This thing will not budge from you face all day! I love to tightline using the NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner ($25) and use Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Inner Rim Liner ($20) to line my waterline.
I honestly prefer to use drugstore mascaras over high-end mascaras any day but here are some I've owned and enjoyed: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara ($12-$23), Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara ($23), Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara ($21), and Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara ($12-$24).
Top: If you looking for a a matte lip stain that will last all day and won't be too expensive ($14 each), check out the Sephora Cream Lip Stains! I love the colors Blackberry Sorbet, Always Red, and Marvelous Mauve!
Bottom: YSL lipsticks are definitely a splurge item at $37 a piece but they are exquisitely made, smell incredible, are amazing quality, and are just beautiful and worth every penny! Pictured here are YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick in Fuchsia Rage and Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 in Beige Ultimate (I used this one on my wedding day with MUFE's Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil ($19) underneath!) I found this bareMinerals Polished Pinks Mini Marvelous Moxie Trio selling for only $15 and think its a great deal! These are great lipstick options if you're looking to expand your collection but don't want to spend too much!
I also love Bite Beauty Cosmetics lipsticks but would recommend waiting until around Christmas time when they come out with great value packs!
Urban Decay Finishing Sprays ($14-$30) keep my makeup lasting all day! Used this on my wedding day and didn't have to retouch once!

Starting a fashion blog really makes you analize your wardrobe. Although I've been working on purchasing the classic wardrobe essentials (blogpost on that soon!), I noticed my bag collection is seriously lacking! I found this adorable bucket bag online at Forever 21 and just loved the color, the style, and of course, the price! I wear a lot of white, so I'm sure it will go with most of my wardrobe and I'll get a lot of use out of it!

The Look for Less: Chloé

Chloé is a brand I greatly admire. I basically awe at everything Clare Waight Keller designs. Their pieces are sophisticated and feminine with a "boyish" touch which I love! Sadly, it's all too expensive for me to own any pieces yet but a girl can still dream and find look-a-likes for less! Here I share with you the most affordable versions I could find! I hope you enjoy and if you want me to prepare this same style of post for any other brand, let me know!

The Five Minute Face

STEP ONE: PRIME

Priming the face is such an important first step when applying makeup! It evens out the beautiful canvas which is your face, allowing for a smooth and lasting makeup application. My skin type is combination: dry in some areas and oily around the T-zone. To attack both of these concerns, I use the Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer all around the face and the Make Up For Ever Matte Finish Primer only in the areas I get most oily.

As a medical student, a good night's rest is a rare thing and my eyes can be a tell-tale sign of that. To hide away dark eye circles I first use the Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Peach just in the corners of my eyes to brighten the area and counteract the darkness. I follow up with the Dermablend Concealer which has amazing coverage even though it's unbelievably thin! As I am not using any foundation for this look, I also use this concealer to mask any blemishes or dark spots quickly. I set the concealer under my eyes using the Bésame Cosmetics Powder and then use the Neutrogena Shine Control Powder on my T-zone.
STEP THREE: EYES & CHEEKS

All the makeup artists I've ever read or heard always encourage the same thing when doing natural makeup: pick your best feature and play it up! For me that's my eyes. I use the Benefit Gimme Brow to quickly give my brows some color and fill in the sparse areas. Then I use Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara to boost up those eyelashes! Its lengthening, volumizing and amazing! I finish the face with some blush which I tend to choose depending on my mood, the lipstick I want to go for or what I'll be wearing. Right now I'm loving this trio from Rimmel. I love a natural face with a coral blush paired with coral lips! The highlighter in this set is a great drugstore option to keep up with the highlighting craze!
STEP FOUR: SET

| NYX Cosmetics Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray |
Last, I set my face with this makeup setting spray by NYX Cosmetics. Just as the name suggests it leaves you with a dewy finish without looking oily and is great for a mid-day spray to keep your makeup looking refreshed!
