The Outfits for Love: Looks for Valentine's Day
February 5, 2018
¡Hola! Today I'm sharing some looks for any type of day you may have planned for Valentine's Day. I hope they inspire you!
Beach Date
Beach Date
|
For a perfect romantic beach outfit, pair a one-piece swimsuit with a breezy bottom cover up! I am a lover of one piece swimsuits because they make me feel sexy while comfortable with eating and drinking (hides the food belly!). Keep it fun with your accessories! I love anything beach related ban.do sells! I've recently been seeing their products at local TJ Maxx stores so keep a look out!
------
Day Date
1. Blouse/Blusa 2. Shorts/Mahón Corto 3. Red Crossbody/Cartera Roja 4. Nude Handbag/Cartera 5. Sunglasses/Gafas 6. Jumpsuit 7. Dress/Traje 8. Converse All Stars 9. Heels/Zapatos (LOVE these Gucci ones if you're willing to splurge!) |
These outfits are perfect for any type of day date! Be it a trip to a museum, sightseeing, brunch, etc., you'll be well prepared and cute in any of these! I love a floral top paired with simple jeans and my pair of Converse! They also look great with any dress for a more casual look! If you're looking for something a bit more sophisticated, pair your outfit with some low heels. All of these outfits could work with either tenis shoes or heels which make them easy to go from day to night also! Add some red lipstick and you're ready!
------
1. Red Dress/Traje Rojo 2. Clutch/Cartera 3. Red Heels/Tacos Rojos 4. Lipstick/Lápiz labial 5. Earrings/Pantallas 6. Clutch/Cartera 7. Lace Bodysuit 8. Nude Heels/Tacos 9. Lace dress/Traje |
I am in love with this red dress! I love the length, the fit, the detail with the tie straps, and the price ($17)! Pair this or any other dress with simple accessories, loosely curled hair, and natural makeup with a statement lip for a simply sexy look. If you're going to buy something special (*ahem* #7 inspired), I would recommend somewhere where you don't have to spend a lot for a decent piece. Its all for a good show anyways! Check out these.
------
Girls Night Out or In
1.Dress/Traje 2. Blouse/Blusa 3. Skirt/Falda 4. Heels/Tacos 5. Handbag/Cartera 6. T-shirt/Camisa 7. Shorts/Pantalon Corto 8. Romper |
Whether you're going for a girl's night out or inviting the girls over for a cozy night in with wine and rom-coms, I got you covered! This short red dress with cold shoulder sleeves is perfect for a flirty look! I personally love pairing a skirt with a top like the one above or with just a graphic tee for a cooler, more relaxed, vibe. Either of those would be perfect to go out with your ladies! You could also invite them over for some gossiping over wine and a romantic comedy! Tell them to bring their cutest pjs and bring out your polaroid for photos that can double as a gift for each one!
------

The Valentine's Day Gift Guide: For Him
February 2, 2018
Let me start this off with a disclaimer: My husband and I have decided to no longer buy each other gifts for Valentine's Day. We prefer to spend that money on a trip/activities/dates that bring us closer together as a couple. That being said, I know most people like to buy their person something special (I used to even go a little overboard!) so here are some gift ideas that have been husband approved!
|
1. Old Navy Slim-Fit Built-In Flex Botanical-Print Classic Shirt ($24.99) 2. Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones ($149.95) 3.Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker ($100) 4. Tissot Everytime Leather Strap Watch ($275) 5. Fitbit Charge 2 ($149.95) 6. Adidas NMD R2 Sneaker ($130) 7. Weekend Bag ($49.99) 8. Jack Black Beard Grooming Kit ($35) 9. Tumi Delta ID Lock Shielded Slim Single Billfold ($85) 10. What I Love About You ($10) |
1. Clothes: I don't know about you ladies, but I purchase 90% of my husband's clothes. Since we live on a tropical island, I'm constantly buying him any short sleeve shirt I can find! I usually buy them at TJ Maxx (he loves the brand Denim & Flower) or at Old Navy like the one above.
2. Headphones: Ever since I bought myself wireless headphones, my gym experience has never been the same. Its easier to run and workout without getting tangled by your headphones. If your man loves to workout, I'm sure he'd appreciate a pair! For cheaper, wired headphones check these out.
3. Bluetooth speaker: Whether if its to blast music at the beach or while he studies/works, men love a good bluetooth speaker. My father has more than 5 around the house!
4. Watch: While this one from Tissot is definitely a splurge, you can find great watches at your local Marshalls or TJ Maxx for an amazing price! Also check out Macy's!
5. Fitbit: I bought my husband the Fitibit Charge 2 a year ago and it is by far one of the best gifts I have ever given him. I bought it for him initially because as a surgery resident, he doesn't have the ability to schedule his workouts as he used to. This helps him realize how many steps he actually takes in a day (while on rotation I could easily track >24,000 steps in 1 day!). It also reads your heart rate, tracks your sleep, AND displays calls and text messages via bluetooth connection with your phone! It wasn't long before I had my own and use it daily also!
6. Shoes: Be it workout/running shoes, shoes for work, shoes for casual or formal events, shoes are always a great option for a gift. As long as you know their size!
7. Weekend bag: You're going away for the weekend with your guy and have packed everything in your cute tote/bag or suitcase and he meets you with the raggedy backpack he's had since high school. Help him look more refined by getting him an elegant weekend bag!
8. Skincare/Beard grooming: If your husband's like mine, a beard grooming kit is a great gift! Men will never buy skincare for themselves so it's up to us! Other options could include a shaving kit or a little bit of everything skincare like in this "It's all about him" kit.
9. Wallet: Check out your man's wallet. Does he have the same velcro one he's probably had since high school, in desperate need for a new one? Now's the chance! This one from Coach is also nice. I would personally head over to an outlet store to get one for a better price!
10. A loving detail: As featured in the gift guide for her, this would also be an adorable addition to your man's gift. It gives it a personal touch. These love tokens are another great option!

The Valentine's Day Gift Guide: For Her
January 31, 2018
Let me start this off with a disclaimer: My husband and I have decided to no longer buy each other gifts for Valentine's Day. We prefer to spend that money on a trip/activities/dates that bring us closer together as a couple. That being said, I know most people like to buy their person something special (I used to even go a little overboard!) so here are some gift ideas that have been wife and girlfriend approved!
1-3, 5. Jewelry: What's more romantic than personalized jewelry? I personally own the Skinny Coordinates Bar Necklace (#3) in both gold (see it here) and silver! Mine have the coordinates of the church where my husband and I married and I love them. The new Valentine's collection from Pandora is another jewelry option which most women appreciate. My favorite piece is the ring pictured above. Last but certainly not least, the choker necklace from Mejuri pictured at #5 is a gorgeously simple piece that adds the perfect statement to any outfit.
4. Wallet/Card case: This is definitely a splurge item but isn't it gorgeous! The perfect card case to fit in any purse!
6-8. Makeup: If your lady is a makeup addict these would be an amazing addition to her collection. I received the Anastasia Glow Kit in December and have been glowing none stop since! Each highlight is creamy and would work on all kinds of skin tones. I've been craving this small eyeshadow palette from Huda Beauty ever since it came out. The pigmentation on the shimmers is amazing and it includes the perfect matte shades to give a complete look! Lastly, you cannot go wrong with a classic red lipstick. Especially one that comes in such gorgeous packaging as the ones from Yves Saint Laurent. Definitely worth the splurge!
9. A loving detail: This little book is adorable! You fill it in with things you love about your partner! Its the perfect detail to complete any gift.
10, 12. Home decor: I bought my own light box at my local TJ Maxx and absolutely love it! I constantly change it to reflect either my mood or the season. I have also purchased lyric prints off of Etsy before and believe they make for a perfectly thoughtful gift. Choose lyrics from your first dance or her favorite song and make it special. The instant download option is great because you can print it at home and purchase the frame of your preference.
11-15. Tech: If you find your girl's phone constantly at 5% battery (guilty!), this charging cord could be a cute way for her to charge on the go. A Crosley record player is also quite a splurge but its a gift that both could use! Get an Ed Sheeran vinyl for her and a Post Malone one for you! If she doesn't own a Polaroid camera yet, this would also make a great gift! I purchase my film from Ebay. If she does own one already, I'm sure she'd appreciate a display option like the one above. I have the same one which I found at, you guessed it, my local TJ Maxx and I love it.
16. Girls support girls: In the social and political climate we are living in these days its important to stand up for each other and what we believe it. Wear your heart on your sleeve with a pin like this one.

María Eugenia

¡Hola! I'm back! It's been a long time...again. I spent most of last year focusing on my fourth year electives, applying for residency, and all that that entails. It's been a whirlwind but I loved every second of my fourth year and am excited for the future. Now that I'm officially done with medical school (amen!), I'm going to spend the next couple of months focusing on studying in preparation for my final board exam, my health, and playing around with the blog again. I missed this so much! It is such a great outlet for me and I can't wait to keep creating content for anyone who is willing to check it out!
As you have probably noticed, the blog has a new landing page! I've worked pretty hard these last couple of days to get everything set and running for this new post. I am in love with it! I think it looks much more professional and simply chic! There are a couple of changes:
Shop My Closet: By clicking on this link at the top left menu bar on the home page you'll find a page where I'll be posting links to clothes I own and feature here or on the blog's Instagram! As of now it only has a few pieces but it's sure to keep growing as I keep shopping!
Health: I'm going to start sharing posts on health & wellness! This is obviously an important subject for me and I can't wait to start sharing my knowledge and take on health/wellness issues with you in a way I hope is interesting! The topic of the first post is sleep! It'll be up in a couple of weeks so keep a lookout for it!
Posting schedule: As you know, I've never held myself accountable to any type of posting schedule because I knew my own schedule was too unpredictable. Since I have a little more time on my hands which can be routinely scheduled, I'm going to try to post twice a week: Monday and Friday. Key word: try! This week will have three new posts, including this one, because Valentine's Day is around the corner and I want to get gift guides out there in time for you guys!
I hope you all enjoy the new look of the blog and keep coming back for more!
Con amor,
María Eugenia
